FERRIS FOOTBALL ADDS PREP RECRUIT FROM MUSKEGON
Defensive Back Jarvis McKinley Latest 2008 Bulldog Prep Recruit
The Ferris State University football program has added another prep talent to its 2008 recruiting class as defensive back Jarvis McKinley (Muskegon) has signed with the Bulldogs and will join the squad for his initial season next fall.
The 6-0 McKinley helped Muskegon High School to a 9-2 overall record during the 2007 season as he compiled 25 tackles and scored four touchdowns for the Big Red. McKinley, who was coached on the prep level by Muskegon's Tony Annese, joins a list of 21 other recruits who previously inked with the Bulldogs on National Signing Day last Wednesday (Feb. 6).
McKinley played both cornerback and running back this past season for Muskegon, which won the Ottawa-Kent (OK) Red Championship in 2007 following an OK Green title in 2006. The team previously won the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division II State Championship during his junior season in '06 with a 14-0 record.
An all-area selection, McKinley also competed on the prep level in both basketball along with track and field. The son of Scottie and Collette McKinley, Jarvis will graduate from Muskegon High School this spring.
McKinley is the third defensive back to sign with the Bulldogs, joining Jonathan Bryant (Detroit/Oak Park) and Cody Groulx (Montrose/Hill McCloy). Additionally, he's the 18th prospect from the state of Michigan in FSU's current 22-member recruiting class.
