Junior Served as Bulldogs' Captain Last Season

Adam Welch (Hastings, Minn.) will occupy a familiar role for the 2006-07 season as the junior defenseman will serve as Ferris State University men's ice hockey team captain for the second straight campaign. The announcement was made by 15th-year head coach Bob Daniels.

Senior left wing Mark Bomersback (Rochester, Alberta) was chosen as an assistant captain for the upcoming 2006-07 campaign.

�We're fortunate to have Adam (Welch) once again as our team captain,� said Daniels, the program�s all-time winningest coach. �He provided outstanding leadership to this last season's team. Adam is well respected by his teammates and the coaching staff.

"I'm confident both Adam and Mark (Bomersback) will do a great job. Both possess great attributes and have continually demonstrated a committment to hard work," Daniels added.

Welch compiled a career season-best 13 points on two goals and 11 assists in 40 games for the 2005-06 season and tied for 13th place among the team's top points leaders. He finished the 2005-06 campaign with a plus eight efficiency rating to go with two multiple-point games and two power-play goals. The 6-3, 209-pound defenseman was a co-recipient of Ferris' Blue Line Competitive Award this past season.

As a freshman walk-on in 2004-05, Welch achieved Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) All-Rookie Honorable Mention Team accolades and was named FSU's Rookie of the Year after posting six points with one goal and five assists in 36 contests. Welch's 2004-05 season points total tied for him for top team honors among the Bulldogs� defensemen. In 76 career outings, Welch has 19 points on three goals with 16 assists while recording 31 penalties for 62 minutes.

Mark Bomersback has been named as an assistant captain for the 2006-07 season.
Bomersback turned in his most productive campaign at Ferris State during the 2005-06 season with 32 points on 16 goals and assists apiece in 40 games. Bomersback, who placed second in team scoring, also recorded six power-play goals, two short-handed markers, and one game-winning lamplighter while accumulating 10 penalties for 20 minutes. Bomersback's eight multiple-point contests ranked second on the squad while his four multi-assist outings tied for top team honors.

The 5-10, 187-pound forward tallied seven goals and had 16 assists for 23 points in 39 games as a sophomore in the 2004-05 campaign. He was tabbed as FSU's Rookie of the Year in 2003-04 after pacing all Bulldog freshmen in scoring with 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists in 37 contests.

Bomersback presently has amassed 73 career points with 31 goals and 42 assists in 116 games. He has produced 16 multi-point game performances while scoring 11 power-play goals and two game-winning tallies during his career.

Ferris State compiled a 17-15-8 overall record while posting a sixth-place tying 10-11-7 mark in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) for the 2005-06 season.
