All Proceeds From Intrasquad Game To Benefit The Little Kevin Courtney Foundation

The 2006-07 Ferris State University men’s ice hockey team will hold its annual Crimson and Gold Intrasquad Game this Saturday (Sept. 30) at FSU’s Ewigleben (pronounced A-VAH-glave-in) Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

The contest, which will start at approximately 7:05 p.m. (EDT), will feature two 20-minute periods. A skills competition involving various members of the 2006-07 Bulldog squad will be conducted between the two periods.

Senior defenseman Joe Van Culin and the 2006-07 Ferris State Bulldogs will take to the ice this Saturday evening for their annual Crimson and Gold Intrasquad Game. Ferris will then host Toronto in a Sunday home exhibition contest.

Admission is free although a $2 donation to the little Kevin Courtney Foundation is greatly appreciated. The foundation was established by Kevin and Julie Courtney in honor of their late son and funds raised will help offset costs for underpriviledged kids who wish to be involved in youth hockey and figure skating.

Following the contest, the popular “Skate With The Bulldogs” will be held along with an autograph session involving the Ferris State players and the coaching staff. A $2 skate rental charge will be assessed for the post-game activity.

"We're really anxious to get the season started," said FSU head coach Bob Daniels, who will begin his 15th year at Ferris State this upcoming season and owns the distinction of being the program's all-time winningest coach. "This weekend's games will serve as a barometer for our team and give us a good indication of what areas we need to work on before the start of the regular season next weekend."

Ferris returns 20 letterwinners from last season’s team which compiled a 17-15-8 overall record and a sixth-place tying 10-11-7 mark in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).

The Bulldogs will then entertain the University of Toronto (Ontario) this Sunday (Oct. 1) in a 2:35 p.m. (EDT) exhibition contest at the Ewigleben Ice Arena before officially dropping the puck on its 29th season of varsity competition the following weekend, Oct. 6-7, with a non-league home series versus Union College (N.Y.). Opening faceoff for both games is set for 7:05 p.m. (EDT).

Hockey reserved single-game tickets are presently on sale and will be $12 (adult), $8 (K-12) and $5 (FSU students) for all games with the exception of the four premier contests against Michigan and Michigan State. The premier game tickets, which will be $16 each, will go on sale Oct. 14 following the second period of that evening's non-league game against Mercyhurst. Two different Four for $44 ticket packages, which include tickets to four games (including one premier game), also will be sold starting Sept. 18. Four different games have also been designated as family nights and include four tickets to the game, four soft drinks and two popcorns all for only $32.
