Inside College Hockey's Preseason Rankings Include The Bulldogs

The Ferris State University menís ice hockey team is listed 30th in the 2006-07 Inside College Hockey (INCH) Power Rankings which were recently released by the online college hockey publication.

The Inside College Hockey editors and staff ranked the nation's top teams.

A total of 59 teams were ranked with Boston College receiving top billing followed by North Dakota and Minnesota. The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) was well represented as all 12 league teams were nationally ranked. The rankings among CCHA teams are as follows - Michigan State (fourth), Michigan (sixth), Miami (eighth), Nebraska-Omaha (15th), Northern Michigan (20th), Ohio State (27th), Notre Dame (28th), Ferris State (30th), Alaska (32nd), Lake Superior State (35th), Bowling Green State (44th), and Western Michigan (49th).

Along with the 30th-place ranking, the INCH staff made this statement about the Bulldogs - "Nearly everyone from last year's 17-15-8 team returns. Putting that additional experience to use could make the Bulldogs an NCAA Tournament darkhorse." Ferris State, which is presently 0-2-0 overall for the 2006-07 campaign, will host the Mercyhurst College Lakers this weekend (Oct. 13-14) in a two-game non-league series at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. This Friday's (Oct. 13) series opener will commence at 7:05 p.m. (EDT) and Saturday's (Oct. 14) contest is slated for a 5:35 p.m. (EDT) opening faceoff. Mercyhurst was ranked one place behind Ferris State at 31st.

Hockey reserved single-game tickets are presently on sale and will be $12 (adult), $8 (K-12) and $5 (FSU students) for all games with the exception of the four premier contests against Michigan and Michigan State. The premier game tickets, which will be $16 each, will go on sale this Saturday (Oct. 14) following the second period of the Bulldogs' game versus Mercyhurst.
