Ferris State University junior goaltender Derek MacIntyre (Stanwood) has been named the RBC Financial Group Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Player of the Month for February in a recent announcement made by the league office.

MacIntyre posted a 4-1-0 record in five February contests to go with a .950 save percentage (151 total saves) and a 1.60 goals-against average (eight goals allowed) in 299:24 minutes between the posts. A 2004-05 CCHA All-Rookie Honorable Mention Team selection, MacIntyre allowed only three even-strength goals with the remainder coming on the opposition's power play. The 6-2, 214-pound MacIntyre averaged 30.2 saves per game in his five appearances.

The Bulldog netminder won his first four starts of the month, which began with a season-high 38 saves in the Bulldogs' 6-2 home league win over Ohio State (Feb. 3). MacIntyre turned away 23 shots in Ferris' 2-1 home win over then nationally fifth-ranked Michigan State (Feb. 13).

The following weekend (Feb. 16-17), MacIntyre made consecutive starts in a home series sweep of Bowling Green State. He had 29 saves in a 2-1 triumph over the Falcons (Feb. 17) and then blocked 28 shots in a 5-2 Ferris victory (Feb. 17). A 2004 National Hockey League (NHL) eighth-round draft pick of the San Jose Sharks, MacIntyre's three wins in a one-week span earned him CCHA Goaltender of the Week (Feb. 19) accolades and was a runner-up for the Inside College Hockey.com's (INCH) Shop Player of the Week (Feb. 20).

MacIntyre's only loss in February occurred at nationally top-ranked Notre Dame (Feb. 24). Although Ferris State was outshot by a 35-15 margin, MacIntyre totaled 33 saves, including 16 stops in a scoreless first period, to keep the Bulldogs in the contest and was named the contest's third star for his performance.

MacIntyre finished this season with a 7-3-0 record as the seven victories marked a personal career single-season high. He turned in a 3.43 goals-against average (39 goals allowed) and an .889 save percentage (311 saves) in 13 appearances.

In 38 career games to date, MacIntyre has compiled a 15-14-2 mark with a .889 saves percentage (887 total saves) and a 3.28 goals-against average (111 goals allowed).

Ferris State concluded the 2006-07 season at 14-22-3 overall. The Bulldogs finished ninth place in the final CCHA regular-season standings with a 10-16-2 league mark.
