This Sunday's Game Proceeds To Benefit The Little Kevin Courtney Foundation

The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will be conducting its annual Crimson and Gold Intrasquad Game this Sunday (Oct. 7) afternoon inside FSU’s Ewigleben (pronounced A-VAH-glave-in) Ice Arena at Big Rapids, Mich.

The game, which will begin at 2:05 p.m. (EDT), consists of two 20-minute periods and a skills competition between the two frames involving various 2007-08 team members.

Admission is free although a $2 donation to the little Kevin Courtney Foundation is greatly appreciated. The foundation was established by Kevin and Julie Courtney in honor of their late son and funds raised will help offset costs for underpriviledged kids who wish to be involved in youth hockey and figure skating.

Following the contest, the popular “Skate With The Bulldogs” will be held along with an autograph session involving the Ferris State players and the coaching staff. A $2 skate rental charge will be assessed for the post-game activity. Free 2007-08 Bulldog Hockey Schedule Posters and Schedule cards will be available to fans in attendance.

Alex Spezia
The 2007-08 edition of the Ferris State men's ice hockey team, which includes senior assistant captain Alex Spezia, will be showcased during this Sunday's annual Crimson and Gold Intrasquad Game.

"The guys are excited about getting on the ice," said FSU head coach Bob Daniels, who begins his 16th year at Ferris State this upcoming 2007-08 season and is the Bulldogs' all-time winningest coach. "As a whole, this group worked diligently in the offseason and is focused on making this season a successful one. With the start of our 2007-08 season less than a week away, the intrasquad game is important in allowing us (the coaching staff) to address certain areas which need to be refined."

Ferris State, which compiled a 14-22-3 overall record and a ninth-place 10-16-2 mark in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), returns 19 letterwinners from last season. The Bulldogs were recently selected to place ninth in the 2007-08 CCHA Coaches Preseason Poll and eighth in the media poll.

The Bulldogs begin their 30th season of varsity competition next weekend, Oct. 12-13, with a two-game non-conference series versus the Union Dutchmen in Schenectady, N.Y. A 7:05 p.m. (EDT) faceoff is scheduled for both outings.

Ferris, which will feature a 17-game home slate for the 2007-08 season, hosts the Wayne State Warriors Oct. 19-20 in the Bulldogs' home-opening season series at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

Hockey reserved single-game tickets are currently on sale and prices are $12 (adult), $8 (K-12) and $5 (FSU students) for all games with the exception of the two premier CCHA contests against Michigan State (Dec. 7) and Michigan (March 1). The premier game tickets, which will be $16 apiece, will go on sale Monday, Oct. 22. Six 2007-08 home contests have been designated as family nights and consist of four tickets to the game, four soft drinks and two popcorns all for only $32.
