The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will play 19 home games, which includes an early December date against 2006-07 National Champion Michigan State, as part of its 2007-08 season schedule. The announcement was made by FSU head coach Bob Daniels.

Hockey Celebration
Ferris State will play a 35-game regular-season schedule, beginning Oct. 12-13 at Union.
Ferris State's 30th season of intercollegiate play at the NCAA Division I level will feature 35 regular-season contests scheduled to be held over 142 days. The Bulldogs will have 28 contests versus Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) opponents and a total of 19 outings will be played inside the friendly confines of FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena.

"I'm excited about the balanced schedule we have for this upcoming season," said Daniels, who will begin his 16th year at Ferris State in 2007-08 and is the program's all-time winningest coach. "We open the 2006-08 season with a pair of non-league series which will prepare us for an always tough CCHA schedule beginning at home against the 2006-07 league champion Notre Dame. I'm also happy as I'm sure our fans are about having Michigan State and Michigan continue making their annual appearance to our rink. "We're also going to continue having a some early starting contests due to the favorable response we've received from our fans and the convenience created for families to attend a Bulldog hockey game," added Daniels.

The Bulldogs first step onto the ice Sunday, Oct. 7, for their annual Crimson and Gold Intrasquad game, which will be held at the Ewigleben Ice Arena beginning at 2:05 p.m. (EDT).

Ferris State opens the regular season on Oct. 12-13 with a two-game non-league series versus the Union Dutchmen in Schnectady, N.Y. Ferris and Union faced off a season ago in Big Rapids for a two-game set in what marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools. FSU then returns home the next two weekends, starting Oct. 19-20 with a pair of non-league games against the Wayne State Warriors (Oct. 19-20). The Bulldogs open their conference slate the following weekend (Oct. 26-27) with 2006-07 CCHA Regular-Season and CCHA Tournament champion the Notre Dame Fighting Irish serving as the opposition. Notre Dame finished last season ranked as the nation's number one team by U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) while placing fourth in both the final 2006-07 USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and Inside College Hockey.com national polls.

The month of November is comprised of seven league contests with road series at Ohio State (Nov. 2 and 4) and Nebraska-Omaha (Nov. 16-17) along with home matchups with Bowling Green State (Nov. 9-10) and Western Michigan (Nov. 30).

Ferris visits its CCHA cluster rivalry opponent Western Michigan (Dec. 1) to wrap up its first of two annually scheduled league home-and-home series with the Broncos. Coach Daniels' squad will then gear up for a home-and-home matchup against 2006-07 national champion the Michigan State Spartans (Dec. 7-8). The Spartans make their only regular-season appearance to Big Rapids on Dec. 7 with the Bulldogs doing likewise in East Lansing the following evening (Dec. 8).

Following the holiday break, Ferris State returns to action by participating in the Toyota UConn Hockey Classic (Dec. 29-30) at Storrs, Conn., to close out the 2007 calendar year. The Bulldogs will be joined in the tournament by Brown, Army and host Connecticut. In the opening round (Dec. 29), Ferris takes on the Brown Bears of the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) in what will represent the first-ever meeting between the two teams before battling either Army or Connecticut the following night in the championship round. FSU competed in the 2002 UConn Classic and captured third-place honors during its school-record 31-10-1 season in the 2002-03 campaign.

The Bulldogs begin 2008 with a Jan. 4 exhibition tilt against the U.S. National Development Under-18 Team in Big Rapids. The next weekend (Jan. 11-12), Alaska pays a visit to the lower 48 states and the Nanooks are proceeded by Northern Michigan a week later (Jan. 18-19). Ferris wraps up its weekend home-and-home series with Western Michigan in late January with the Bulldogs hosting the Broncos on Jan. 26 after skating on the Broncos' home ice the previous night.

The final 10 games of the regular season are all league encounters, starting Feb. 1-2 with a trek to Michigan's Upper Peninsula for a series against Lake Superior State. The Bulldogs then remain on the road the next weekend (Feb. 8-9), venturing to Notre Dame, Ind., for two contests versus Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish along with Bowling Green State are in FSU's league scheduling cluster this upcoming campaign and thus will meet one another four times during the regular season. A pair of home meetings versus Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 15-16 breakups the seven-game road swing as the Bulldogs take to the road for a league series at Bowling Green State (Feb. 22-23).

Ferris State closes out the regular season Feb. 29-Mar. 1 with a weekend home-and-home series against Michigan. The Bulldogs travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., on Feb. 29 and then entertain the Wolverines on Mar. 1 in the regular-season finale.

The opening round of the CCHA Tournament will get underway Mar. 7-9 at campus sites with tourney seeds 5-8 hosting. The top four seeds each receive a first-round bye. The CCHA Tournament Quarterfinals take place Mar. 14-16 at campus site and the four teams who win their best two-of-three series advance to the 2008 CCHA Championships (Mar. 21-22) at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.

Game start times for all 2007-08 home contests are 7:05 p.m. (ET) with the only exceptions being Oct. 10 versus Bowling Green State, Oct. 20 against Wayne State, and Jan. 12 versus Alaska. The puck will drop at 5:05 p.m. (ET) for those three outings.

Ferris State, which concluded its 2006-07 season with a 14-22-3 overall record and a ninth-place 10-16-2 CCHA ledger, will welcome back 19 letterwinners from last season's squad.
