Ferris State Moves Up One Spot Following Upset Of Nation's Top-Ranked Team

The 2007-08 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has moved up one spot to 19th in this week's (March 2) Inside College power rankings after being listed 20th in last week's poll as a result of the Bulldogs' 4-3 overtime home league win over nationally top-ranked Michigan last Saturday (March 1) in the regular-season finale.

Adam Miller, who netted the game-winner in Ferris State's overtime win over top-ranked Michigan last Saturday night, has his sights set on helping the Bulldogs maintain their national ranking.

Ferris State, which is currently 15-14-5 overall and finished Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play with a fifth-place 12-12-4 mark this season, also picked up 18 points in this week's (March 3) U.S. College Hockey Online/CSTV Networks poll and is among 12 teams as others receiving votes. The Bulldogs are also included as others receiving votes in the 13th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll with a seven points total.

The Bulldogs, under 16th-year head coach Bob Daniels, split a home-and-home CCHA series with Michigan last weekend (Feb. 29-March 1), highlighted by a 4-3 overtime victory over Michigan last Saturday (March 1) at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs sport a 5-2-2 record in their last nine contests to date.

Ferris State now prepares to host a first-round 2008 CCHA Playoffs series this weekend (March 7-9) against the Western Michigan Broncos at the Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids. The best-of-three series begins this Friday (March 7) with a 7:35 p.m. (EST) opening faceoff scheduled for the FSN Detroit televised contest. A 7:05 p.m. (EST) start is slated for this Saturday's (March 8) tilt while Sunday's (March 9) game, if necessary, will also drop the puck at 7:05 p.m. (EDT).
