Teddy Bears Collected To Benefit Needy Children In The Big Rapids Community

The Ferris State University Athletics Department will hold its annual Toys For Tots' Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, Dec. 6, during the Bulldog men's ice hockey contest versus Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

A 7:05 p.m. (EST) start time is scheduled for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) series finale contest at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

Toys For Tots
Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to throw onto the ice between the first and second periods. The teddy bears collected on the ice will go directly to benefit needy children in the local area for the Christmas Holiday.

The U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots Program was formed to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and then distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the local community. The program is aimed at helping needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas along with the message of hope to needy youngsters that will movitate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

Along with the Teddy Bear Toss event, the FSU Athletics Department will be selling sports memorabilia in the Ewigleben Ice Arena concourse as a fundraiser for the Bulldog hockey program. Professional and college photographs, player autographs, etc. will be on sale throughout the weekend (Dec. 5-6) series.
