Ferris State Volleyball The 2004 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship banner was presented to the Ferris State University women's volleyball squad prior to last Friday's (Sept. 23) home match against Ashland at FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

Accepting the banner on behalf of FSU were last season's captains Ashley Green (middle) and Karla Fairbanks (right), both of whom completed their collegiate eligibility following the championship campaign. Ferris State Events, Facilities and Marketing Manager Mike Haggerty (left) made the presentation to the squad.

The Bulldogs claimed their ninth GLIAC Championship in 2004 after winning the league’s annual postseason tournament. FSU concluded the 2004 campaign with a 25-7 overall record and a second place 14-4 GLIAC North Division mark. The Bulldogs also advanced to the NCAA-II National Tournament for the 12th time in school history. Last season's GLIAC Championship under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm was the school's first since 1990.

New banners signifying FSU's eight other league titles have also been added to the volleyball-only facility to replace existing banners on the east side of the arena.
