Ferris' Danielle Baucher has been named to the Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region First Team
Baucher was one of seven players named to the Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region First Team, which was picked by the sports information directors throughout the region. Seven other players attained second team accolades this campaign. Last season, Baucher was a 2005 Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region Second Team pick. As a first team recipient this season, she is now included among the possible candidates for the 2006 Daktronics All-America Teams, which will be announced later this month.

Hillsdale's Taryn Rudland was honored as the 2006 Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region Player of the Year. The other first team selections included Ashland's Mary Kate Glowe, Stephanie Booms of Hillsdale, Grand Valley State's Meghan Moore, Kim Potthast of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville along with GVSU's Alyson Riley.

The Daktronics team is voted on by the sports information directors of the region's member institutions and sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The company also markets DakStats® sports statistics software with programs for football, basketball and baseball available.

The 5-10 Baucher, who was an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First Team honoree this campaign, currently has a school-record 1,545 career digs to date along with 1,480 kills, which presently ranks sixth on the school’s career kills leaders list. Baucher, who ranks as Ferris' overall kills (4.46 kpg) leader this season along with second in digs (3.37 dpg), became the 14th player in school history to notch 1,000 career kills and only the sixth Bulldog player ever to record both 1,000 career kills and digs in Ferris’ season-opening home win over St. Joseph’s (Aug. 24). She’s five service aces away from matching Kathy O’Connor’s (1990-93) fifth-place career mark of 171 aces at FSU.

A team captain, Baucher ranked among the GLIAC's overall leaders in kills, points and service aces this season. She picked up all-conference first team recognition for the second straight season while twice being named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week this campaign. Baucher has tallied 10 kills or more in 26 of her 29 outings to date this season and reached double-figures in digs 22 times. Earlier this year, she was named to the Ferris State Invitational All-Tournament Team.
