Lindsay Tye reaps the rewards of a productive senior season by earning AVCA All-Great Lakes Region First-Team accolades.
Ferris State University outside hitter Lindsay Tye (Gregory/Chelsea) has earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Great Lakes Region First-Team honors after registering solid numbers for the 2007 season. The announcement was made by the AVCA Tuesday (Nov. 20).

Tye was among 12 individuals chosen to the All-Great Lakes Region First Team and now qualifies for possible inclusion to the 2007 AVCA All-America Team, which will be announced Monday, Nov. 26. AVCA member head coaches nominate and choose their respective all-region players through a committee process.

A 2007 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First-Team selection, Tye lead the Bulldogs this fall with a career single-season high 488 kills and also established another personal season best with a .296 hitting percentage in 30 matches. She placed runner-up for team honors in both service aces (40) and digs (281). One of four 2007 team captains, Tye generated double-digit kills in 25 matches this season and tallied a double-double (double-figure in both kills and digs) 14 times during the campaign. Tye garnered a season-high 26 kills this campaign on two occasions - against North Dakota (9/7) at the Minnesota-Duluth Classic and versus Lake Superior State (9/14). She notched a season-best 21 digs against nationally-ranked Grand Valley State (10/26).

The 5-10 outside hitter finished third among the GLIAC leaders in kills (4.65 avg.) while placing 10th in both hitting percentage (.283) and service aces (0.39 avg.). Nationally, Tye currently ranks 17th in kills per game (4.65), 114th attack percentage (.296) and 306th in aces (0.38 avg.).

She became the 15th player in school history to record at least 1,000 career kills and concluded her four-year (2004-07) career ranking 13th on FSU's all-time kills bests list with a 1,143 total in 109 career matches. The 2006 All-GLIAC Second-Team and conference all-academic team honoree is tied for 14th place in service aces (136) and is 19th in digs (814) among the program's career leaders.

Tye was an all-tournament team selection in all three regular-season tournaments in which the Bulldogs participated in this season -- the Ferris State Invitational (8/24-25), Days Inn-Denver West Oredigger Classic (8/31-9/1), and Minnesota-Duluth Classic (9/7-8).

Ferris State concluded the 2007 campaign at 20-10 overall and 12-6 in the GLIAC's North Division under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm. The squad's 20 wins this season represented the ninth time in the last 10 years in which the Bulldogs have notched at least 20 victories in a single season.

Ferris also recorded the program's 10th consecutive winning campaign this fall and the 2007 season marked the 27th straight year of the Bulldogs compiling a double-digit victory total. FSU also made its 10th consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance this campaign.

With her selection, Ferris State has now landed a player on the AVCA All-Great Lakes Region Team for at least the seventh consecutive season. A season ago, former Bulldogs Danielle Baucher and Karla White both picked up first-team kudos.
