Three Ferris State players produced double digits in kills to help the Bulldogs win their eighth consecutive match with a 3-2 triumph (25-16, 25-19, 21-25, 21-25, 15-9) over Drury Friday (Oct. 17) at the 2008 Asics GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Volleyball Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind.

Ferris State appeared to have the match in hand after winning the first two sets, but the Panthers rallied to win the following two sets by identical 25-21 scores.

In the decisive fifth set, the Bulldogs broke a 2-2 tie and never trailed the remainder of the set although Drury was able to trim the defict to one on two occasions (6-5 and 7-6).

Sophomore middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central) and junior middle hitter Kristy Gilchrist (Macomb/Anchor Bay) led the way with a match-leading 16 kills. Goodson hit .406 for the contest while Gilchrist posted a .394 attack percentage. Junior middle hitter Sarah Lark (Alma) chalked up 10 kills and hit for a .381 clip as the Bulldogs amassed 65 kills to Drury's 49-match total. Ferris turned in a .273 hitting percentage while Drury compiled a .123 attack efficiency rate.

The senior setter combination of Candice Marut (Pinconning) and Andrea Rich (New Baltimore/Anchor Bay) combined for 53 of the team's 56 assists as Marut compiled a team-high 29 helpers.

Defensively, redshirt freshman libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) led all players with a match-high 24 digs. Freshman outside hitter Ashley Huntey (Stanwood/Morley-Stanwood) garnered 16 digs while Rich and sophomore defensive specialist Dana Ruttle (Reed City) claimed 15 and 14 digs, respectively.

The Bulldogs also controlled play at the nets with 13.0 team blocks to Drury's three total. Gilchrist and Lark racked up five block assists apiece while Goodson had two block solos and three block assists.
