Success continues to accompany the Ferris State women's volleyball team as the Bulldogs extended their win streak to seven matches Friday (Oct. 17) with a 3-1 decision (25-19, 17-25, 27-25, 25-22) over Missouri-St. Louis at the 2008 Asics GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Volleyball Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind.

Ferris State, which is now 14-7 overall for the 2008 season to date, came out firing in the opening set as the Bulldogs hit at a .273 clip to take a 1-0 lead. The Tritons returned the favor in the second set with a .258 attack percentage to FSU's .128. Ferris was able to regain its momentum after winning a close third set (27-25) and would proceed to end the non-league match by claiming a 25-22 fourth-set decision.

A pair of juniors, middle hitter Kristy Gilchrist (Macomb/Anchor Bay) and outside hitter Katie Edwards (Cedar Springs) registered 13 and 11 kills apiece to lead the Bulldogs. Gilchrist not only lead Ferris State with those 13 kills, but also hit .324 for the match to go with five blocks (three block assists).

Sophomore middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central) and senior setter-outside hitter Andrea Rich each compiled nine kills while junior middle hitter Sarah Lark (Alma) posted eight kills on .381 hitting.

Rich helped out the Ferris cause with 28 assists to go with three of the team's eight service aces. Fellow senior Candice Marut (Pinconning) chipped in with nine helpers but also tallied 13 digs.

Redshirt freshman libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) paced the FSU defense with a match-high 19 digs for her sixth straight double-figure digs total in a single match.

The Bulldogs concluded the four-set match with a .181 attack percentage while UMSL hit for a .146 clip. The contest also featured 31 tied scores and 15 lead changes.
