Junior outside hitter Katie Edwards (Cedar Springs) and sophomore middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central) combined for 23 kills while three others reached double-figure digs as the Ferris State women's volleyball team posted a 3-2 win (25-17, 21-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-10) over Saginaw Valley State this Saturday (Sept. 27) afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match at SVSU's Cardinal Gymnasium in University Center, Mich.

Ferris State (9-7; 3-4 GLIAC) won two of the first three sets before host Saginaw Valley State (12-3; 4-3 GLIAC) forced a deciding fifth set with a 25-22 win in set four. The Bulldogs hit .471 in the fifth set with nine kills in 17 attempts while the Cardinals had eight kills and eight errors in 19 chances for a .000 attack percentage.

Edwards racked up a match-leading 12 kills and hit at a .500 clip while Goodson totaled 11 kills in guiding Ferris State to its second straight win.

Senior setter-outside hitter Andrea Rich (New Baltimore/Anchor Bay) turned in a fine effort running the Bulldogs' offense with 37 assists to go along with a career match-best 16 digs. Redshirt freshman libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) tallied a match-best 21 digs to lead three Bulldogs with double-digits digs. Joining Tobiczyk and Rich was freshman outside hitter Ashley Huntey (Stanwood/Morley-Stanwood), who contributed 10 digs.

Both teams recorded 51 kills apiece, but Ferris posted a .283 hitting percentage for the match to SVSU's .128 attack percentage. The Bulldogs compiled a 63-to-49 advantage in digs and also won the battle at the net with eight team blocks to the Cardinals' five-team blocks total.
