Ferris Women's Basketball Squad To Face Ashland Friday In Houghton

Ticket information and media coverage for the Ferris State University women's basketball squad's semifinal-round game against Ashland on Friday (March 7) in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament have been made available.

The second-seeded Bulldogs and third-seeded Eagles will square off in the second women's semifinal at 8 p.m. (EST) inside Michigan Tech's Student Development Complex Gymnasium at Houghton, Mich. Host and top-seeded MTU will meet fourth-seeded Wayne State in the first game at 6 p.m. (EST).

Saturday's (March 8) championship game for the women tips off at 7 p.m. (EST). The eventual tournament champion will receive the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournaments slated for March 14-17 at a site to be determined. Eight teams, including six at-large squads, will participate in the regional with the official announcement set to be released late Sunday (March 9) evening.

Tickets for the semifinals/finals may be purchased at the door one hour prior to the start of each session. Reserved seat tickets are $9 while general admission tickets are $7 and student tickets (ages 5 and up) $2 per session. GLIAC guidelines do not permit any complimentary tickets to be issued. GLIAC Tourney on B2 Networks A live video and audio webcast of both of Friday’s GLIAC Tournament Semifinal games along with Saturday’s championship contest will be available via B2 Networks for a $6 pay-per-view charge per game with Rob Bentley of the FSU Athletics Communications Office calling the action. No Bulldog Radio coverage of FSU women's basketball will be available this weekend due to the spring break period. Any additional local radio coverage that is picked up will be announced later in the week if needed.

Ferris State, which is currently 17-11 overall this campaign, advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals with a hard-fought 93-89 quarterfinal-round win over Northwood Saturday (March 1) in NU's Bennett Sports Center at Midland, Mich.

The Bulldogs are midst their ninth-straight and 10th overall conference tournament appearance. Ferris earned tournament runner-up honors in 1999-00 and 2003-04.

Ashland enters Friday's outing with a 18-10 overall record and defeated FSU 97-81 earlier this season (1/31/08) at Ashland, Ohio. AU holds a 10-9 series edge entering Friday’s 20th encounter and has won five of the last six series’ matchups overall.
