Additionally, the Central Regional was also held on the same course in conjunction with the Great Lakes Regional as part of the NCAA's Super Regional setup. Washburn (Kan.) took the Central Region crown with an 878, which was 14 strokes behind the Bulldogs' winning effort.

Individually, FSU senior Jeff Carlson claimed individual medalist honors as he was 10-under par (206) for the tournament. Carlson fired a 69 in Wednesday's final round after opening the tournament with a 68 on Monday followed by a 69 in round two Tuesday. His performance also was seven strokes better than the individual medalist in the Central Region.

Freshman Kurt Valley ended up in a tie for ninth place (74-73-73=220, +4) overall. Senior Brody Moreland wound up tied for 13th place in the field (75-72-74=221, +5) with senior Kyle Mason finishing tied for 16th place (73-72-77=222, +6). Ferris State, under eighth-year head coach Brad Bedortha, will now advance to the 2007 NCAA-II Championships slated for May 22-25 at Grand Valley State's The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. The Bulldogs will be one of 10 NCAA-II regional winners in the national championship field. Ten additional teams will also earn berths to the national finals. These 10 teams will be determined based on the previous three-year average of top-10 finishes of a super regional at the finals.

FSU's most recent regional tourney championship title prior to this year was in 2003 (May 5-7) as the Bulldogs tallied an 895 three-round strokes total at the Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, Mo. The Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA-II National Championships (May 20-23) in Sunriver, Ore., and claimed 15th place as a result of producing a 1,216 score in the 72-hole event.
