Lilleboe Named Most Valuable; Valley Earns Bulldog Award

Sophomore Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) of the Ferris State University men's golf team has been named the Bulldogs' Most Valuable Player for the 2007-08 season while sophomore Kurt Valley (Bay City/Western) was the winner of the Bulldog Award in an announcement made by interim FSU head coach Mike Mignano.

Lilleboe, the 2007-08 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Year, led Ferris State with a 73.30 stroke average (2,199 total strokes) in 30 rounds this season.

Valley registered a team second-best and a career-best 74.87 average (2,321 total strokes) in 31 rounds this campaign en route to receiving the Bulldog Award, which is presented to a FSU men's golf team member who displays the most dedication and hard work.

A 2007-08 first-team All-GLIAC selection, Lilleboe recorded a squad-best 10 top-20 place performances and totaled six top-five finishes. He was the Bulldogs' top performer in five tournaments this season, including posting a ninth-place tying 222-stroke total at the GLIAC Championships (Oct. 8-9) as Ferris claimed a tie for second place. Lilleboe also garnered top team honors at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Super Regional (May 5-7) in Findlay, Ohio, by firing a second-place 216 score in the 54-hole tourney as the Bulldogs turned in a fourth-place two-round 595 team score.

Lilleboe captured individual medalist honors in three tournaments this season - Northwood Invitational (Sept. 10), The GEICO Intercollegiate (March 14-15), and the Findlay Outback Steakhouse Invitational (April 11-12). Lilleboe carded a 143 at the Northwood Invite and then netted a 216-stroke total (70-73-73=216) at The GEICO Intercollegiate in Savannah, Ga. He produced a 144 score at the Findlay Outback Steakhouse Invite en route to attaining GLIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week (April 16) accolades.

In his two-year (2006-08) career at Ferris State, Lilleboe is averaging 74.66 strokes (3,061 total strokes) in 41 rounds.

Kurt Valley
Valley placed among the top 20 individuals on nine occasions this season, including six top 10 finishes. He was the Bulldogs' top performer in six 2007-08 season tournaments, which included a season-best second-place tie at the GLIAC Championships after generating a three-round 218-stroke total.

Valley owns a 75.47 career average (4,528 total strokes) in 60 rounds to date. The 2007-08 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention pick has produced top-20 place finishes 13 times in his career with nine of those placings being among the top 10 individuals.

Both Lilleboe and Valley were integral in leading Ferris State to its sixth straight NCAA-II Great Lakes Super Regional appearance in the program's history.
