The home course proved not to be advantageous for the Ferris State University men's golf team as the Bulldogs finished fourth at the 2007 Ferris State Bulldog Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday (Sept. 16) in Big Rapids, Mich.

Ferris State totaled a two-round 590 team score (+14) as a result of posting 291 and 299 rounds at the par 72, 6,674-yard Katke Golf Course on the FSU campus. First-round play in the 36-hole tourney began Saturday (Sept. 16).

Grand Valley State took first in the tourney with a two-under par 574 score. Ashland finished runner up by tallying a 579-stroke total (+3) while Findlay claimed third place as a result of producing a 583 score (+7) among the 11 teams participating.

Individually for Ferris, sophomore Eric Lilleboe paved the way with a third-place 141 score (68-73=141, -3). Lilleboe ended up one stroke behind Findlay's Kory Kotterman (140, -4) and Matthew Malloure (140, -4) of Grand Valley State. Malloure would capture top individual medalist honors by winning a sudden-death playoff.

Redshirt freshman Joe Brown fired a 147 score (70-77=147, +3) to claim 14th place while senior Matt Erickson fired a 151 (74-77=151, +7) to tie for 26th place.

Tying for 32nd place was junior Derek Shelburne, who carded a 153 (80-73=153, +9). Sophomore Kurt Valley finished the 36-hole event with a 155-stroke total (79-76=155, +11), which tied him for 41st place.

Junior Brian Janty and freshman Jack Tunge both concluded the tourney by tying for 60th place with 161 scores. Janty (80-81=161, +17) and Tunge (82-79=161, +17) competed as non-scoring individuals.
