Sophomore Named League Athlete Of The Week After Successful Weekend

Eric Lilleboe Sophomore Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) of the 2007-08 Ferris State University men's golf team has been honored as this week's (April 16) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week for his performance in a pair of events last weekend (April 11-14).

Lilleboe helped the Bulldogs to a pair of runner-up finishes in the two events. He earned tournament individual medalist honors in the Findlay Outback Steakhouse Invitational (April 11-12) as he shot a 74 on Friday followed by a tournament-best 70 Saturday to finish with an even-par 144 overall for the event, which helped the Bulldogs card a second-place 604 team score.

Lilleboe then placed tied for seventh at the Ashland Invitational the following two days (April 13-14) as he totaled a 150 (+6) score with rounds of 76 and 74 to help FSU post a 602 overall score.

The sophomore from Lansing Catholic Central tallied a team-leading 73.5 average score over his four rounds in the two events. He's the first Bulldog men's golfer to earn the league distinction this season.

The 5-10 Lilleboe presently holds a team-best 73.4 average on 1,835 strokes in 25 total rounds this campaign. He's placed among the top 10 individuals in eight tournaments this season along with holding five top-five individual performances. Lilleboe's victory at the Findlay Outback Steakhouse Invitational represented the third time this year he's claimed individual medalist honors.

Lilleboe and the Bulldogs are next slated to take part in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament #3 this Saturday and Sunday (April 19-20) in Noblesville, Ind.
