The Ferris State men's golf team won its 16th Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship with a 54-hole total of 899 during the 2000 league meet in October at the Bulldogs' Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. Runner-up Grand Valley was a distant second, 19-strokes behind the Bulldogs at 918.

Ferris State's Mitch Flemming earned medalists honors with a first-place score of 218 (72-71-75) while teammate Ian Ziska placed second with a 220 total (75-72-73). Other top 'dogs included Chris Vossekuil (7th place) and Chad Tate (12th/tie).

Ferris ventured further into the national spotlight in late October by competing in the exclusive eight-team field at the third annual Golf World National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships at the Country Club of Big Oaks in Tupel, Miss.
