Sophomore goalkeeper Becci Houdek (Canton) recorded a season-high 20 saves at Grand Valley State Saturday (11/1) in the Bulldogs' regular-season finale match. The 20 saves by Houdek were two shy of tying FSU's single-match record of 22 stops held by Alana Dombrowski versus Madonna in the 2002 season (10/18). In 16 appearances to date this season, she has totaled at least 10-plus stops in a match on seven occasions.

FSU's top three points leaders this season, senior forward Tammy Unsworth (White Lake/Walled Lake Northern), freshman midfielder Maegan Smith (Hickory Corners/Kalamazoo Christian), and freshman forward Bri Borgman (Holland/West Ottawa) have combined for 57.1% (40-70) of the team's points production and 69.2% (18-26) of the squad's goal-scoring output. Unsworth has compiled a team-high 15 points (6-3=15) in 14 matches while Smith has produced 14 points (7-0=14) in 16 contests and Borgman has totaled 11 points (5-1=11) in 17 games.

The Bulldogs concluded the 2008 regular-season campaign allowing 29 goals (1.68 avg.) in 17 outings while scoring 26 markers (1.51 avg.). A season ago, FSU gave up 62 goals (3.38 avg.) in its 18 regular-season encounters and tallied 44 goals (2.40 avg.).

Ferris State will be hosting a GLIAC Tournament First-Round match for the first time in the program's 10-year history as the Bulldogs entertain Northern Michigan this Tuesday (Nov. 4) in Big Rapids, Mich. Ferris swept the Wildcats in both regular-season matches this season, posting a 1-0 road win at Marquette, Mich. (9/21) before claiming a 3-0 home decision (10/12) in Big Rapids. Last season (10/30), FSU qualified for the conference tourney and suffered a 3-2 opening-round setback at Saginaw Valley State.
