Expected Snow and Low Temperatures Forces Cancellation Of Tournament
|Amanda Harrington and the Ferris State softball team will now make their next diamond appearance Wednesday, March 26, in the Bulldogs' season home opener versus Aquinas.
Expected wintery conditions with low temperatures has forced cancellation of this Saturday's (March 22) 2008 Wayne State University Softball Invitational in Detroit, Mich.
The tournament will not be rescheduled.
Ferris State was slated to play three non-league contests in the single-day tournament - all against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schools in Hillsdale, Lake Superior State, and host Wayne State.
Next up for the Bulldogs is the 2008 season home opener which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich. Ferris State will entertain the Aquinas Saints in a non-conference doubleheader with the first game slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. (EDT). The twinbill represents the first two of six straight home outings for the Bulldogs, who will host Gannon (March 29) and Mercyhurst (March 30) in GLIAC action next weekend (March 29-30).
Ferris State is presently off to a 7-8-0 start this spring and is midst a two-game winning streak. The Bulldogs entered this campaign ranked 25th nationally in the 2008 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Preseason Top 25 poll.
