Ferris State's Molly Basha became only the third player in program history to attain All-America kudos this campaign
The 28-member women's team recognizes players who finished among the top 20 singles competitors or the top 10 doubles tandems in the final (May 23) Fila Division II National Rankings. The 5-7 Basha was the only student-athlete from a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) institution or a Great Lakes Region school named to the women's All-America squad this campaign. She placed 20th in the final national singles listing this year and was the region's top-ranked singles competitor at the end of the campaign.

Additionally, she is also the first Bulldog women's player to attain All-America kudos since Jennifer Garvey and Barbora Jilkova became the program's first-ever players to earn such recognition following the 2001-02 campaign.

Basha was a co-recipient of FSU's Most Valuable Player honor after leading the Bulldogs to their 12th consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearance during the 2006-07 campaign. She also received the GLIAC Player of the Year Award in the fall 2006 season, compiled an impressive 22-3 overall singles record and was 26-4 in doubles play this campaign. Basha registered a 19-2 singles dual mark at the number one flight, including a 9-0 record in league matches.

She also teamed with fellow senior Marissa Muchow (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) to post a 20-2 dual mark at the top doubles flight. The duo, which was 9-0 in conference play, advanced to the ITA National Small College Championships (Oct. 12-13) where they finished seventh overall in the Division II field at Fort Myers, Fla. The tandem previously claimed the regional doubles crown at the ITA Great Lakes Championships (Sept. 15-17) in Midland, Mich. Basha and Muchow narrowly missed earning All-America honors in doubles play as they were ranked 11th in the final Fila Division II National Rankings. The duo concluded the year as the Great Lakes Region's top-ranked doubles tandem.

Basha, who won her final 12 singles outings of the fall campaign, also reached the regional semifinals in singles play and was named GLIAC Player of the Week (Sept. 19). She concluded her career as one of the most decorated players in school history with a 74-19 career singles record and a 73-18 doubles mark at FSU. Both totals rank her among the top 10 all-time performers in school history. She was a three-time (2004-06) All-GLIAC First Team selection.

During her career, Basha helped the Bulldogs to a four-year overall record of 56-28, including a 33-5 record in league action.

The Bulldog women's tennis team made its 17th overall NCAA Tournament appearance in 2006-07 under second-year head coach Jing "Amy" Sun. Ferris posted a 11-11 overall record this campaign, including a third-place 7-2 mark in the GLIAC. FSU also finished in third place at the GLIAC Tournament last fall and was ranked 40th in the final (May 25) Fila Division II National Rankings this season.
